Overhead Garage Door

When choosing a new garage door for your home, there are several factors to consider. You want to choose a door that is suitable for your home, the climate where you live and your use. For example, is the room a workshop, used for storage or do you park your cars in there? How the room is used will help determine the right overhead garage door to fit your needs.

Another thing to consider is the style of the door and the architectural design of your home. Most homeowners want a door that will compliment the design of the home for a coordinated look. We have a wide selection of door styles and window options. Used in a variety of combinations, you can create a wide range of looks to create a custom design in a style and color that works with your home.

The climate where you live will determine the best door for your situation. For example, some of the overhead garage door styles in our collection are insulated to protect the garage from the elements. The Therma Classic and Therma Tech are double sided steel doors that are insulated between the panels. This provides additional insulation to protect from the elements, as well as more structural integrity for the door.

Browse our website to find a RIGID Garage door that will best fit your needs. Click on each type of door to see the door styles and window options that are available. The recent stimulus bill signed by President Obama allows a tax credit for energy efficient home upgrades. If you purchase and install a qualifying garage door during 2010, you can qualify for up to $1,500 in tax credits.

There are a few conditions that your new garage door would need to meet to qualify for the tax credit:

  1. Purchase your garage door in 2010.
  2. The newly installed garage door must be insulated and be installed in an insulated garage.
  3. The garage door has to have a U-factor (the measurement given to garage doors to grade their energy efficiency) equal to or less than 0.30.
  4. The garage door must have a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient equal to or less than 0.30.
  5. The garage door must have a means for controlling air infiltration.
  6. You must plan on using the door for five years or more.
  7. The garage door must be installed at the taxpayer's main residence, although the door can be installed on a detached garage.

The total tax credit you can receive from your new garage door is $1,500. The amount you can receive for the credit is 30% of the total material cost of your new door. The cost of installation cannot be claimed.

If you have been stalling on buying a new garage door, now is the time to do it to take advantage of the tax credit.

RIGID will insure that your garage door meets all of these standards, if you're interested in the credit, call us if you have any questions:
